Branding

Boy, is it really ever time to update my blog. I have been working feverishly over the last several weeks to complete a painting that I started quite a while ago. Have the perfect venue at the Stampede Art Show over the 4th of July holiday. It was taken from a photo I took while at the McKee ranch in Wyoming. I got the title from the old John Wayne movie "Cowboys" where he said during a branding scene, "I've been doing this for 40 years, and I never got used to that smell."

It is finally at the gallery being framed for the show. Hope you enjoy!

Now I have two commissioned pieces to complete, then I can start on what I want to do for the fall Society of Animal Artists, "Small Art Big Impressions" show. I'll need the summer to do what I want to do. Maybe when I get that far I can put it up here as a work in progress.

Been a lot of stormy weather here. Hail knocked out my satellite reception for four days until service could come and fix it. It was a five minute fix but it is going to be expensive. Sigh ...

Hope all of you are doing great out there.

I've been waiting a long time to see this one finished. It's wonderful! Can you post it larger?

I usually make all my file sizes small enough for email. But I can post a larger size file so you can see all the details.

I'll go in and try to edit it now.

Thank you so much for your great comment. Sorry I made you wait so long! :-D

Duene, This isn't as good a photo and I had to adjust its brightness. I don't think it looks right. I'll have to re-photo after it is framed and completely flat. I probably should have waited in the first place, but ... it had been so long ...

Once I get an accurate photo, I'll re-post it again. For me, it would not "click to enlarge." I hope you have better luck.

Judith this is WONDERFUL! All of the detail .... the grass, the shirts the fur (cows don't have fur do they?) on the cows. What size is it? Very, very impressive.

Vicki ... I laughed and laughed and laughed ... of course cows have "fur." Aren't I lucky. The size is 15" x 22" probably 23" x 30" framed. I really cussed those boys out for wearing plaid I'll tell you.

I'll finally be putty the WIP cat that demonstrates painting fur with water color. The pictures don't really tell the story, so will be trying to tell you what I was doing with each step. It that doesn't work, I'll just finally have to write a step by step with new illustrations one of these days. (Just like I was going to put the fur up for you right away.) :-D
